Groupings

In this task I'm going to work on my own without a group. I feel that working as part of a group creates and offers too many distractions from the work, making it far more easy to slip away from the task in hand. Working in a group also poses problems like creative differences between group members, this disrupts the whole planning and production processes. Working alone will allow me the creative freedom to create a text shaped to my specifications rather than the good ideas of 3 people with different, contrasting, stylistic tastes.  My choices were based mainly from past experiences from GCSE and AS level courses, and the fact that there are now countless musical genres to choose from; the other tasks had only one genre which was assigned to us.

As with groups, there are also problems with a solo group, especially the sheer amount of work to be done, I can see that this, if anything, will be my biggest downfall. Although my time management tends to be good, so I'll have to plan a more hectic schedule!

Initial task

Task Brief: "Advanced portfolio, to create a promotional package for the release of a new CD to include a promotional video, magazine article and digipack for the CD release."

This appears to be a highly intriguing task, different to anything that I've ever undertaken before. It'll  be a challenge, but one that I feel I can undertake. I'm looking forwards to exploring new genres of music and to looking, in depth, into music videos and the creation of digipacks. I already have some ideas into what song/genre to use which I'm already confident with the key themes of.
